IL DAVID DEI 100, 2022
This majestic work, one of the largest ever created by Andrea Crespi on canvas and also exhibited at the Triennale di Milano, represents a masterful masterpiece of museum-scale dimensions. The imposing optical illusion, created by the 1:1 scale of Michelangelo’s original work, amplifies the visual impact and towers over the viewer.
This piece is part of a charity project in collaboration with Dynamo Camp, a foundation that supports children with chronic disabilities and their families, using art as a tool for experimentation and inclusion.
To fully grasp the significance of this work, we return to the concept that started our journey: the idea of a new contemporary hero. This artwork marks a pivotal moment in Andrea’s career, as the canvas is no longer just one of the most iconic works in his artistic journey, but it also offers an experience of invaluable human value, a narrative of life shaped by experiences and encounters.
The David is composed of 7 canvases, one for each day of the week, created by different groups of young children, involving a total of around one hundred kids: The David of the 100.
100 new contemporary heroes.
