BEAUTY LIVES IN EVERY STORY
The sculpture is a contemporary reinterpretation of Botticelli’s Venus, characterized by fluid lines that define the contours of the body. In this version, Venus emerges from a large open book, a symbol of culture and the transmission of knowledge, emphasizing that beauty is not only aesthetic but deeply rooted in human history and understanding.
The books from which she rises are not just a material foundation but a conceptual one: they represent the power of stories and shared culture, true vehicles of beauty and hope. Each story reflects the human ability to find the positive, conveying motivational messages even in the most difficult times.
What makes this Venus distinctly contemporary is a mechanical arm, symbolizing the relationship between humanity and technology, where cultural evolution intertwines with technological progress. The mechanical part, though integrated into Venus’s body, does not replace the human element; instead, it becomes a natural extension, symbolizing that technological advancement is also the product of deeply human knowledge, passed down through generations.
Carrara marble was chosen for the sculpture, inspired by the Latin phrase “Verba volant, scripta manent.” This material evokes the solidity and permanence of written words, just like marble, which endures through time and becomes an immutable legacy.
The artwork conveys a sense of resilience and strength: beauty, anchored in culture and knowledge, continues to shine even in a world full of challenges. The blend of organic and mechanical forms represents a synthesis of past and future, of human and technological, where beauty becomes a universal value capable of uniting and inspiring humanity despite the difficulties of modern times.
One of the most extraordinary aspects of Beauty Lives in Every Story is its innovative creation process. Starting from a block of marble weighing approximately 400 kg, the piece took shape through the use of advanced technologies, then was refined by hand. This groundbreaking method marks a significant step toward an ever-closer collaboration between human and machine, making the sculpture a true icon of contemporary art.
The piece was unveiled at the Museo MAGA in Gallarate and has become the symbol of the 25th edition of the Duemilalibri Literary Festival 2024.
Artist’s Statement:
“Technology is revolutionizing the art world, opening up creative possibilities that were once unimaginable. Today, thanks to digital tools and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain, we can explore new expressive territories and transform the way we create, experience, and collect art.
For me, technology is not just a tool but an extension of my creativity. It allows me to break down the boundaries between the physical and the digital, to experiment with innovative forms and concepts, while always maintaining a connection to artistic tradition.
In an era where art is becoming increasingly global and accessible, I believe it is crucial for us as artists to adopt an open and conscious approach toward new technologies. It’s not just about the tools but about new opportunities to redefine our role and the meaning of art in the contemporary world. Technology is a tool, but the art lies in the vision. We must not confuse the medium with creative talent.”
